Academic rules

These Regulations is applicable to all the enrolled students  in the Euro-Mediterranea Academy courses.

 

Once he/she is enrolled, each student has to observe principles and rule of these regulations.

  1. ADMISSION AND ENROLLMENT

 

Art. 1 Admission request

 

Students have to pass an entrance exam (an aptitudinal test and a pre-selection meeting with a manager of the Academy) for accessing the courses of the Euro-Mediterranea Academy. For taking part in the selections students must have a high school degree from whatever type of school.

 

Art. 2 Admission procedure

 

For the admission you have to pass a selection having this procedure:

1st Psycho-aptitude meeting. It evaluates the candidate’s motivation, his/her inclination for creative and managerial jobs, his/her cultural competence.

2nd Exposure of graphic works. The creativity of the candidate will be tested through the marking of his/her sketches and drawings.

Students have their admission graphic  tests.

There are no other tests.

For the academic courses (four-year and three-year courses) there is a maximum age of 23 years old.

 

Art. 3 Announcement of selection meeting outcome

 

The selection outcome will be announced on the day of the meeting, or few days after with a written or telephone communication by the Secretariat.

After this communication, students have to submit all the necessary documents listed in Art. 4 of these Regulations.

 

Art. 4 Course enrollment

 

Students who pass the selection have to formalize their admission to the Academy with the delivering, depending on the type of the chosen course , these documents:

 

Four-year and three-year courses

 

Application form, filled out and signed in all its parts

Academic Regulations, filled out and signed in all its parts

Copy of high school and/or degree diploma. For foreign students, validation  declaration and legalized translation of their educational qualifications

2 card format photos

Photocopy of an identity card (valid)

Photocopy of student’s fiscal code

Photocopy of parents’ fiscal code

Payment of enrollment fee

Communication of the chosen type for payment

Two-yearl and annual courses

 

Application form, filled out and signed in all its parts

Academic Regulation, filled out and signed in all its parts

1 Copy of high school and/or degree diploma . For foreign students, validation  declaration and legalized translation of their educational qualifications

Photocopy of an identity card (valid)

The Didactic Committee willconsider the admission of a student directly in the second and third year depending on requirements that can be documented.

 

Art. 5 Waiting lists

 

Suitable but not admitted students, because of the limited number in classes, will be placed on a waiting list. If any students withdraw, the Academy will take students from the waiting list.

Students on the waiting list have an enrollment priority just for the following academic year in which they have suitable.

The waiting list is drawn up according to the following criteria:

 

according to the evaluation in the selective meeting

when there is an equal evaluation, student that first took the selective meeting has the priority

when there is an equal evaluation and the selection date coincides, it is required the judgment of the Executive Director of the Academy

 

Art. 6 Advertising

 

The procedure for the admission to the Euromediterranea Academy  is posted on the school website and on the communication materials dealed at events and meetings of educational orientation.

 

Art. 7 Admission and documents for foreign students

 

In order to attend the Euro-Mediterranean Academy, foreign students must be up to date with the Italian laws on immigration.

For passing the selection, in addition to the required documents described in art. 1 of these Regulations, foreign students must also submit :

 

EU students

 

Copy of a valid residency permit issued by the Italian Police

 

not-EU students

 

copy of the Italian entry VISA issued by the Italian Embassy of their country

copy of the certificate of attendance, issued by the Euromediterranea Academy at the enrollment, regularly stamped by the Italian Embassy of their country during the entry visa issuance

copy of a valid residence permit issued by the Italian Police

When the residency permits will be expired, the same student has to ask to the Didactic Secretariat all the required documents  for renewals that must be taken to the Police.

Foreign students that, when they pass the admission meeting, are already in Italy with a visa issued for the attendance of other courses at other academies, has to present a new student visa based on the enrollment certificate issued by the Euromediterranea Academy.

  1. SCHOLASTIC DOCUMENTS

 

Art. 8 Enrollment and attendance certificates

 

The enrollment and attendance certificates are issued, at the request of interested students, by the Didactic Secretariat of the Academy.

Documents and Certificates are issued only to students that are up to date with with fees and enrollment fee payment.

 

Art. 9 On Line Services

 

The Euro-Mediterranea Academy makes available to its students the following services:

 

Harim Euro-Mediterranea Academy Facebook page : students can send their projects for posting them on the Facebook page of the Academy. Projects will be commented, evaluated and will have public votes. By sending the project the student expressly authorizes its publication on that channel.

Harimag, Harim magazine, is an open space to students and others where you can share ideas, information, works, opinions and trends, all of them having been captured around the world.

Student portal: course schedules and teachers notices, study plan, exams registration and votes, exam reservation , consultation of payments, exam timetable, lessons and tests dates, deadlines and all the communications related to the Academy are published on the electronic notice board that students have to regularly consult and that must be considered as the only official source for every didactic information.

  1. ABSENCES AND LATE ARRIVALS

 

Art. 10 Courses attendance

 

All the courses of Euro-Mediterranea Academy have a compulsory attendance. Absences can not exceed 30% of the total hours provided for every subject included in the study plan. If you exceed this limit, after being communicated to the Didactic Secretariat, the teacher can reduce  student’s final grade or, in grave cases, can request the Educational Committee to define what disciplinary measure has to be taken.

Among these measures there is also the expulsion from school.

If a student can not attend classes for a period of time (external projects or internships, health reasons, etc.), he/she has to promptly inform the Didactic Secretariat so that it will release the attendance suspension form.

Students who does not attend classes for more than three consecutive weeks, has to be considered withdrawn. Students can renounce to the continuance of their career explicitly expressing  it with a written document. Students who want to withdraw have notify their intention to the Secretariat and have to formalize the withdrawal by sending, by e-mail, a written notice. If the signed declaration, or student’s notices, has not been received the withdrawal is still valid. For foreign students, the withdrawal notice is also sent to the Embassy that issued the Visa.

 

Art. 11 Half term advisories

 

At the half of the term teachers, of all subjects, have to to communicate to the Director Manager of the courses, the names of students with a high number of absences or poor performance situations. In particularly grave cases there will be disciplinary measures.

 

Art. 12 Late arrivals

 

Students have to respect the class and exam schedule and the exams of their course, and to be punctual in every task or educational activities. All the late arrivals will be reported by the teacher to the Secretariat.

 

Art. 13 Early exits

 

Early exits have to be communicated to the Secretariat and are allowed only withreal and documented need.

  1. EVALUATION SYSTEM

 

Art. 14 Criteria and parameters

 

During the academic year. students take oral and practical exams, with the presentation of their work, according to the times and the subjects of their Study Plan.

The evaluation are expressed in thirtieths for academic courses and in value judgments for two-year, annual and master courses.

 

Art. 15 Exam transcript

 

Every student has his/her own exam transcript, issued by the Secretariat, a real identity document and proof of his/her academic career. Every student has to responsible for the conservation of his/her exam transcript that must be shown whenever it is required, for aconsultation of sa text in the library, for the access to other services, for discounts and special terms at agreed shops upon the Academy.

For be a valid document, the exam transcript must be signed by the student and endorsedby the Secretariat at the beginning of every Academic Year. The Secretariat will stamp it after the check of the regularity of payments and the enrollment fee.

If he/she loose the exam transcript, the student has to promptly inform the Secretariat. The new exam transcript will be issued after the delivery of a card format photo and the payment of Euro 10,00.

If there are discordances in the contents of the exam transcript, the documents in the Secretariat have the prior validity.

 

Art. 16 Registration of marks in the exam transcript

 

At the end of an exam, the mark is immediately transcribed on the exam transcript by the teacher. The same teacher will transcribe the name of the subject, mark and signature (of him and of the student) in the document prepared by the Secretariat for the exam registration .

 

Art. 17 Exam Dates, Academic Calendar, Teachers

 

The ordinary period for the execution of lessons, drills, seminars, workshops and supplementary activities is commonly established, for every academic year, between 15th October and next 31st May. However, every course may have a different temporal progression, depending on the specific educational needs. The Academic Council every year approves an Academic Calendar taking into account the planning needs. Euro-Mediterranea Academy – for organizational reasons and in its incontestable judgement- has the right to modify exam calendars,lessons timetables, programs and study plan, but without changing its contents and always close to the preset educational objectives, and giving  a prompt communication to the people involved. Euro-Mediterranean Academy can also replace teachers and/or assistants in order to improve the teaching, or if an unexpected event or a hindrance suddenly occurres.

Students can knows the dates and the timetable of exams through direct communication of teachers, by the Work counseling Office, by a notice posted on the bulletin board. Every subject provides for an exam session.

If a student, due to illness or another reason, can not take an exam on the scheduled dates, he/she has toarrange with the teacher the modalities and the whena he/she can do the exam. To pass to the. next A.Y., students haveto pass the half plus one of the required exams by their study plean. If there are unrecovered or not sat exams, the Educational Committee, after examining causes and conditions, has the right to expel the student or can allow the recovery of the exams on dates agreed between the student and his/her teachers.

 

Art. 18 Criteria for evaluation of the performed work

 

There are both practical and oral exams. Teachers decide the mark (from 18/30 to 30/30 cum laude or from poor to excellent) according to the work that a student has done in the classroom, to his/her revealed dedication, to his/her level of knowledge verified during  the exam.

If there is justified absence, or he/she wants to improve his/her mark, a student can repeat the exam only once, upon agreement with his/her teacher.

The mark will be recorded in the exam transcript (that will be given to every student on the first day of the courses), and in the inner documents of the Academy (held by the secretariat).

Art. 19 Poor mark

 

If a student has not a passing competence, the teacher can not report the exam and inform the secretariat.

That student will have to retake the exam, agreeing with the teacher and the Secretariat its modality and date. The exam and the mark will be reported in the exam transcript by the teacher and the secretariat.

 

Art. 20 Extra-curricular activities and Internship

 

All the extra-curricular activities are optional. If a student will participate to an extra-curricula activity, he/she has to support all the costs (eg. entry tickets, trips and stays if he/she will participate to sector fairs, shows, runway shows backstages etc.).

The Academy offers its students an internship and placement office that receives all the students’ demands and correlates them with internship and job offers in companies, so providing a personalized service.

In the Internship agreement there is all the information about the conditions and the lease of the internship. This document, written by the Work counseling office and based on the student’s profile and on the host company needs, has to be signed tri-ply for the acceptance by the student, the host company tutor and educational spokesperson of Euro-Mediterranea Academy. An internship is subject to the advancement of the student during his/her studies, to his/her passing of all the exams of the study plan and to merit parameters established by the Educational Committee of the Academy. Internships of not-EU students is subject to the current Italian law and to the validity of their documents.

 

Art. 21 Diploma Issue

 

At the end of the courses a Diploma of the attended course will be released.

A Diploma is released to all the students who have all the sufficient marks in all the subjects of their study plan and have delivered papers or final project when required.

Students that have failed to fulfil obligations relating to all the payments can not receive the Diploma.

Together with the diploma of the achieved educational qualification, the Academy will issue a certificate which, according to compliant models with those adopted by other European countries, shows the curriculum that the student has to follow for obtaining the qualification.

 

Art. 22 Judgement of teachers

 

During the academic years it is possible that students have to give a judgement of the teachers of their courses and of the Academy, filling out, anonymously, evaluation questionnaires.

  1. SPECIAL REQUESTS ON EDUCATIONAL PATHWAYS

 

Art. 23 Exemption request  from subjects

 

Students with sufficient competence on a specific subject (and can demonstrate it) can ask the validation of it.

This authorization must be specifically requested by the student to the Manager Director that can approve or disapprove this application.

 

Art. 24 Attendance of an extra-curricular subject

 

A student can ask to attend a subject that is not in his/her study plan. This application must be send, through the secretariat, to the Manager Director  that will define the attendance modalities and costs of the requested subject.

 

Art. 25 Interruption of the attendance

 

The termination or suspension of the attendance in a course must be COMPULSORILY communicated in a writing form to the Didactic Secretariat that will take note of student will. If there will be no notification, a student will be considered a regular attendant and so having the duty of paying the fee of his/her course.

If a student withdraws, even so he/she has to pay the fees related to the attendance of the course in the attended academic year. She attended. For non-EU students the suspension from the attendance will be communicated to the Italian consulate that had issued to him/her the study visa.

  1. TUITION PAYMENT RULES

Art. 26 Terms and modality of payment

 

Costs of the chosen course are those specified at the enrollment. If the cost of tuition will increase, even so an already enrolled student continues paying according to the cost-plan at the time of the enrollment.

 

Modality:

 

Payment of the tuition can be made in the following modalities:

 

by cash money or bank check directly at the secretariat

by bank transfer to the commercial code assigned to: Euro-Mediterranea Academy IBAN code IT 61 Y 03019 16902 8002289  and specifying in the reason first and last name of the enrolled student.

 

Terms:

 

Payment of the enrollment fee, of the advance payment and of the tuitions, must be made within the deadlines communicated by the delivery of the specific form, during the admission approval to the Academy. If there will be a delay it will be applied interest at 5% (for every year) starting from the deadline until the fulfillment, and a temporary suspension from lessons.

To guarantee the payment of the tuition and of the optional expenses required for the attendance of a course, the parent …………………………………… .. born in …………………. on ……………… .. …………………………………………………………… residing in…………………………………………tax code ……………………………

and the parent born in …………………………………… on.. ………………….  residing in……………………………………………… ……………… .. …………………………… tax code…………………. will be economically responsible for the non-payment of the annual tuitions .

 

Art. 27 Waiver of admission to courses

 

A student who, after the passing of the selection and the enrollment, does not want to attend to the course, has to to inform the secretariat.

The Secretariat takes note of the waiver but it is not obliged to refund the paid amount for the enrollment fee. But it refunds, in full, any advance payment up to 15 days before the beginning of the course. After this date nothing is due to the dropout student.

  1. CHANGE OF PLAN

 

Art. 28Change of Plan

 

The Academy can postpone or cancel the planned educational activity by giving timely notice to its participants; so its only obligation is to refund the received amount .

 

  1. OTHER

 

Art. 29 Conduct rules

 

Students have to leave their classrooms in an orderly way and to not modify the original layout of the classroom and to not use classes in an irregula way (eg. dirtying with food or drink, damaging the furniture and the equipment, using the computer room and surfing the internet for non-educational purposes, downloading unauthorized files from the internet, leaving the sockets of professional machines located in tailoring turned on, etc.). Course participants are personally responsible for any damage of structures, classrooms, educational supports, equipments and everything that is in the rooms designated by the Euro-Mediterranea Academy to the lessons “in the classroom”. During the lessons cellphones must be turned off or in “silent” mode. Telephone conversations are not allowed in the classroom during lesson hours.

It is strictly forbidden to smoke in the classrooms, but it is possible to do it in the areas for a break and expressly designated for smokers.

Outsiders must not enter in the Academy. Students are not allowed to receive visits from friends and relatives in the classrooms and in the Academy spaces. A student who violates this rules is subject to disciplinary provisions. Outsiders’ entrance must be expressly authorized by the secretariat.

 

Art. 30 Disclaimer /authorization for the publication of photos and videos

 

Free, with no time limits, also in accordance with articles. 10 and 320 of the Civil Code. and articles. 96 and 97 Law 22.4.1941, no. 633, Law on Copyright, students authorize the publication and/or distribution, in any form, of images produced by them and those in which they are present and that are on the website of the Euro-Mediterranea Academy, in printed form and/or in any other means of communication (even electronic means). Students authorizes also the preservation of these photos and videos in the computer archives of Euro-Mediterranea Academy. They also take note that the purpose of such publications are purely of informative and possibly promotional nature.

 

Art. 31 Access to services (computer lab, tailor’s shop, photocopies, library)

 

For Acceding to the tailor’s shop, the goldsmithing lab and the computer lab, not during the lesson hours,there must be an authorization by the Secretariat. A student improperly using  classrooms and the equipment of the Academy has to be considered personally responsible for any damage or breakdowns and he/she will be subject to disciplinary provisions.

When it is necessary for didactic activities and works, students are allowed to make photocopies using the copy machine of the Academy, after the authorization by the Secretariat. We remind to every student that, by law, you can photocopy up to a maximum of 15% of total pages of a book. Photocopies of instalments, released by teachers, can be made in the affiliated photocopy shops near to the  Academy. Every student is responsible for the pick up of his/her copy. The Secretariat can not photocopy texts and instalments.

For consulting the texts of the Library you need to have the permission of the Secretariat. A student is responsible for the safekeeping of a text or texts (no more than three texts at a time) that must be consulted exclusively within the Academy spaces.

It is also forbidden to photocopy borrowed texts  without the explicit authorization of the Secretariat.

Art. 32 Teaching materials

 

Students have to buy all the need teaching materials for the lessons (textiles, sartorial kit, personal computers, books, writing materials, etc.) because the use of these materials is expressly personal and related to the proper gait of the lessons.

 

Art. 33 Protection of personal data

 

According to art. 13 of the legislative decree 196/2003, students give their consent to the processing of their personal data for the following purposes: internal administrative management, communication of the information of educational activities, any informative and promotional activities made by the Euro-Mediterranea Academy and/or partner companies.

The manners contained in Art. 16, 17, 18 and 19,concern only the passed exams in Four-year and Three-year courses.
