Introduction

The three-year Fashion photography course has been created for the need of training a new generation of professional photographers  of Mediterranean area specialized in fashion photography.

For becoming a professional and original image creator, you need a theoretical-practical study of fashion photography. analyzing several analytical and incisive approaches, studying fashion ideology and context.

The three.year fashion photography course considers fashion photography as a practical and cultural discipline: it is fundamental to learn not only technical competences of photography, but also to examine the most representative images of fashion context (from haute couture to street style, from advertising campaign to shopfronts, from magazines to glossy ones). Our final objective is to give an analytical and critical view of style and of cultural view of fashion sector.

Objectives

 

The objective of this course is to get future photographer in touch with fashion real world, for understanding what there is behind a glamour image, how to communicate style and how to seduce audience with a snapshot. An important part of this course is concerning post-production process: how to choose the best photographs and how to emphasize and retouch a photo.


Admittance into the three-year Fashion photography course


Italian and Foreign citizens with a high school diploma or a degree can enroll in this course. The age maximum is 25. This course is for a limited number of students only and they have to pass an aptitudinal test and a pre-selection meeting. You can make a reservation for the selections any time of the year, upon a telephone appointment or via mail.

Duration of the course
The course is three-year long. The academic year will start in October and end in May. The educational programme is with a full immersion of 16 hours per week (8 hours per diem twice a week). There will be, also, extra hours of subjects of cultural, marketing and communication areas. This programme is convenient for non-residential students. Our information office is at students’ beck and call for some advices about the choice of the course and the planning accomodation of non-residential students. Throughout the academic year, the competence of the student will be constantly examinated with oral exams and projects.
Job opportunities
Today fashion companies are looking for earnest and driven young people with a contemporary view of the world, free from traditional cadres or cultural bonds. In recent years a fashion photographer has becoming not just a simple image hunter but a visual communicator, able to take advertising companies’ place, getting past the so far insurmountable boundary between fashion industries and advetising studios. Today fashion photogrpahers need to be prepared to every activity of fashion (runway shows, shows, artistic performances, cultural events, advertising campaign etc.); so three-year fashion photography course will give their students all the competences required for creating digital images of high quality. The function of a fashion photographer is not only to photograph articles of clothing, but it also matters his/her ability of interpreting basic ideas, the connections susuggested by product season, clothes range, the communication type used by a brand. Fashion photographers can work bot in studios or in external locations, they can be freelancers or work in fashion companies for advertising clothes, accessories and lifestyles. They can also work in communication companies fro making publications of sale catalogues, services for high fashion magazines or for fashion inserts of newspapaers.
Graduation release
At the end of the course you can receive a three-year diploma of  Fashion Photography.
